Tomato Pasta Sauce with Italian Sausage and Red Wine
This rich tomato pasta sauce, infused with the flavors of Italian sausage and red wine, is sure to elevate any pasta dish. A touch of fresh basil brings a burst of freshness, making it a perfect sauce for a hearty dinner.
Ingredients:
- 2 Italian sausages, skinned and crumbled
- 1 can of diced tomatoes (400 grams)
- 1 small can of tomato paste
- 1 bottle of passata 400 gr
- glass of red wine
- Handful of fresh basil, finely chopped
- 1 to 2 teaspoons sugar (to taste)
- Olive oil, salt, and pepper to taste
- 1 onion
- 3 garlic cloves
Instructions:
- Heat some olive oil in a pan. Cook the crumbled Italian sausage until browned and cooked through.
- Add the chopped onion and garlic.
- Stir in the tomato paste and cook briefly until it turns deep red in color.
- Pour the red wine into the pan and let it simmer for a few minutes.
- Add the diced tomatoes, passata and sugar. Let the sauce simmer on low heat until it thickens and flavors meld together, about 20-30 minutes.
- Just before serving, stir in the finely chopped basil and season with salt and pepper.
