Basic Quiche Recipe with Butter Puff Pastry:
- 1 pack of roomboter bladerdeeg (butter puff pastry)
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper
- 1 cup shredded or crumbled cheese (such as feta, cheddar, goat cheese, or gruyere)
- Up to 2 cups add-ins (suggestions below)
- Optional toppings for serving: extra cheese, chopped herbs, hollandaise sauce, & freshly ground pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (355°F).
- Fill the quiche pan with the roomboter bladerdeeg. Gently press the pastry into the pan, trimming any excess. Optionally, you can prick the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbling.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Stir in the shredded or crumbled cheese and your choice of add-ins.
- Pour the egg mixture into the prepared pastry shell.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 55 minutes, or until the quiche is set and the top is lightly golden.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with optional toppings as desired.
Add-In Suggestions:
- Leek and ham (classic and savory)
- Spinach and mushroom (for a vegetarian option)
- Bacon and onion (rich and flavorful)
- Asparagus and goat cheese (fresh and tangy)
- Broccoli and cheddar (a comforting combination)
- Sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and feta (Mediterranean vibes)
Feel free to mix and match ingredients based on what you have available or your personal preferences. Quiche is incredibly versatile, so experiment with different combinations to find your favorite.
