Orange Ice Cream Recipe
Enjoy this refreshing homemade orange ice cream using your ice cream maker!
Ingredients:
- 4 large oranges (approximately 250 ml fresh juice)
- 200 ml whole milk
- 200 ml heavy cream
- 150 g sugar
- 1 tbsp finely grated orange zest
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- A pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Juice the oranges: Squeeze the oranges to extract about 250 ml of fresh juice. Strain the juice to remove any pulp or seeds.
- Prepare the base: Heat the milk and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until the sugar is fully dissolved. Do not let the mixture boil. Remove from heat and allow it to cool.
- Mix the ingredients: Combine the orange juice, orange zest, heavy cream, vanilla extract (if using), and a pinch of salt with the cooled milk mixture. Stir well.
- Chill: Place the mixture in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 2 hours or until fully cold.
- Use the ice cream maker: Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (typically 20-30 minutes).
- Freeze: For a firmer texture, transfer the churned ice cream to a sealed container and freeze for an additional 2-3 hours.
Serving Suggestions:
Scoop the orange ice cream into bowls or cones and enjoy! For an extra touch, garnish with additional orange zest or a sprig of mint.
